Galambila Aboriginal Health Service Inc commenced operation in October 1998 as a joint venture between the Aboriginal community, Mid North Coast Area Health Service, Mid North Coast Division of General Practice, Office of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health (OATSIH), Durri AMS, Yarrawarra Aboriginal Corporation and the NSW Department of Health.

Galambila AHS is an incorporated Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation which operates through a Board of Directors and health service provider partnership. 

The Board currently consists of 9 Directors (all Aboriginal). 
The Board meets monthly to discuss strategic/business planning activities.

On the 1st July 2008 Galambila became a stand alone independent service following release from a long standing auspice arrangement with Durri ACMS.

 

The service operates 5 days per week and currently has approximately 3,300 patients. The establishment of Galambila has significantly improved access to health care for Aboriginal people in the Coffs Harbour region.
